HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – While Santa is making his list and checking it twice, his helpers in Huntsville are preparing to serve.
“If you need help it’s okay to ask for it”, says Violet Edwards with the Charity, “and right now is the time to ask while we still have time to pull the money together and to pull the toys together and to pull the food together to be able to help them. So think about it a little bit earlier and come on down and get that application in.”
Christmas Charities Year Round’s Operation Believe is now taking applications for Christmas assistance. Operation Believe provides eligible children with toys and other gifts at Christmas time, as well as, a holiday food box for their families.
“We see single moms, we see grandmothers, we have the underemployed, the unemployed, people who are just being laid off work–it’s a hard time of year to come home with nothing for your child and we just want to pull the community together and uplift these people during their time of need.”
Operation Believe also provides gifts and food for eligible elderly or disabled individuals who request assistance.
“It’s hard to prepare when you don’t know how many you’re preparing for, so if people come on in and let us know what their needs are come November we can put those needs out in the community and Christmas will go so much smoother for everyone.”
