Huntsville Couple Killed in Accident Near Birmingham
FULTONDALE, Ala. (WHNT) — Two people from Huntsville were killed Tuesday evening in a wreck on Interstate 65 in Jefferson County.
The victims were identified as James Robinson, 61 and Lois Robinson, 65. The accident happened around 6:00 p.m. at the Walker Chapel exit in Fultondale, about 10 miles north of Birmingham.
According to Alabama State Troopers, the couple’s vehicle left the roadway and struck a steel pole in the median. That pole is holding a giant overhead message sign. The Alabama Department of Transportaion is bringing in a crew Wednesday morning to take down the sign, because it is now unstable.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
