Evaluating Gene Chizik And His Coaching In 2012

Auburn, Ala. (WHNT) – Since winning the National Championship with Heisman-winner Cam Newton, Gene Chizik is 9-8 on the Plains.  That record includes an 0-2 record in the SEC in 2012.

Some in the Auburn family are openly questioning if Chizik is the right man to get Auburn back on track.

One of the arguments involves a play call late in the LSU game, when, on third and long and down by two, Chizik calls a run play.  A pass play might have increased the chances of moving the chains and an incompletion would’ve stopped the clock.

At the Little Rock Touchdown Club, Arkansas head coach John L. Smith said the chances are better Bobby Petrino would take over at Auburn in 2013 than at Kentucky.
