Deputies Continue Search For Stolen Goods On Somerville Property
SOMERVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Thursday, Morgan County deputies were back on the scene of a huge meth bust. Agents arrested four people the previous night.
Sheriff Ana Franklin says they have hundreds of acres to check for stolen cars and other merchandise. They’re also looking for illegal drugs at the secluded home of 40-year-old Robert Daniel Keahey on Bluff City Road in Somerville.
Deputies found illegal drugs, guns, a stolen car, a working meth lab, even a live hand grenade.
“This is just a mess. I mean, that’s just the best thing I know to say, it’s just a mess,” said Sheriff Ana Franklin. “And what’s happened is that, it’s become kind of a hangout for a lot of our ne’er-do-wells in Morgan County that know that they can come up and smoke dope and cook off dope and bring stolen property and just hang out here and cause a lot of problems.”
Thursday, the Morgan County Rescue Squad used sonar equipment to search at least five ponds on the property. They were looking for stolen goods.
Sheriff Franklin says the search will take them through the weekend.
