HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – If you have a child at McDonnell Elementary School in Huntsville, take note of a few parent meetings coming in the near future.

McDonnell is a Title 1 school and receives federal funding.  A certain portion of these funds are allocated for parents to use to help their children learn.

Cornealia Prewitt-Sanders, McDonnell’s curriculum specialist, said the goal of the meetings is not only to encourage parent participation, but to help parents feel like they’re part of the greater process of educating their children

Prewitt-Sanders said McDonnell also has the largest population of Hispanic students in Huntsville City Schools, so some of the parent meetings will be held entirely in Spanish.

If you’re a McDonnell parent, please make plans to attend one of these meetings:

  • Monday, September 24, 9am-10am (Spanish only)
  • Monday, September 24, 1-2pm (Spanish only)
  • Wednesday, September 26, 9-10am (English only)
  • Wednesday, September 26, 1-2pm (English only)
  • Monday, October 15, 5-6pm (English & Spanish)

If you have additional questions, please call McDonnell Elementary at (256) 428-7280.
