CINCINNATI, Ohio (WHNT) – Federal Bureau of Investigation agents arrested the mother and step-father of a missing teenager early Saturday morning.

Sergeant Doug McGill with the Dothan Police Department told WHNT 15-year-old Aliene Mariz Lander is in protective custody along with the five other children of Charles Dean Partin and Julie Ann Bethke.

The State of Alabama issued a missing child alert for Lander after police said Partin kidnapped her Monday afternoon from Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan.

McGill said a woman in Cincinnati let the family into her home late Friday night, after it appears Partin and Bethke presented themselves as a family needing a place to stay.

She called law enforcement after sensing something suspicious, and McGill said she may have recognized Partin or Lander, from missing child and wanted advertisements that aired across the country.

McGill said the FBI identified Partin and agents went to the house with a SWAT team, and arrested the adults without incident.

Partin faces federal kidnapping charges and is in custody in Ohio.

Bethke faces charges in Dothan for interference with custody, and Barber County authorities are trying to arrange her extradition back to Alabama.

Lander and the five other children are in protective custody with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

Sergeant McGill said the response to the media alert was amazing, not just from the southeast, but the entire country.

“Investigators got tips the whole time from common citizens, and it was amazing to see the cooperation from average joes to the troopers in Texas,” McGill said.

Dothan Police confirm reports the family was seen Thursday or Friday in east Texas.

McGill said they asked for gas money, and after they left, the witness realized it was Partin.
