Murder Arrest Made in Lauderdale Stabbing Death
FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) – After a two month investigation, sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Lauderdale County man and charged him with the stabbing death of a Florence woman.
According to Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Dept. Investigator Thomas McCluskey, the arrest was made just after 6pm Wednesday night, in custody is Raymond Demetrius Gibson Jr.
Deputies say that Gibson is charged with Murder, in connection with the July 2012 death of Savanna Brooke Parrish.
In a statement, McCluskey said that Gibson and Parrish had gotten into an argument in the early morning hours of July 13th at the Brush Creek Campgrounds near Waterloo.
McCluskey said that the suspect had gotten into another argument earlier in the night with Parrish’s grandfather, who was also stabbed and transported to ECM Hospital in Florence.
Investigators say that new evidence and statements by witnesses in the last few days led to the arrest.
In earlier interviews, investigators said they planned to send the case to a Lauderdale County Grand Jury session, but with the new information, Lauderdale County District Attorney Chris Connolly gave permission on Wednesday to make the arrest.
Raymond Gibson is being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Center, bond has not been set at this time.
