Boaz Debuts New Solar-Powered Street Lights
BOAZ, Ala. (WHNT) – Thursday night, Boaz city leaders cut the ribbon on something a bit different. The city celebrated its new solar-powered street lights.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs gave the city more than $220,000 in grant money for the project.
Boaz used the money to replace 36 aging street lamps along U.S. Highway 431 with solar-powered LED models.
The switch to solar will save the city up to $7,000 per year.
