Davis Family Speaks for the First Time Since Tragedy
TUSCUMBIA, Ala. (WHNT) – Absent are the police and investigator cars that have been parked outside a High Street home in Tuscumbia since Tuesday evening.
Family members of Elbert Davis are holding onto the pieces they have left of their fathers memories.
“The memories that we are going to have won’t be of this incident. This is something bad,” says Farley Davis, Elbert Davis’s son. “We will remember all the good stuff in his life.”
Thursday morning, Farley Davis was at the High Street home, fixing the back door that police say vandals pried open sometime Tuesday afternoon.
Life will never be the same for the Davis’ after someone brutally beat their father.
“I will probably remember my dad by this picture. That’s him golfing, or not golfing, but kicked back at my sister’s house kicked back. He was an easy-going guy, and he was very happy all the time, and he loved life and he loved the Lord. That’s all I can say,” explained Farley Davis.
A sign across the street at Deshler Middle School conveys the message from an entire city.
“How sad for our neighbor. How sad for our society. God bless Mr. Davis and his family.”
“All the thoughts and prayers for all of our family, from churches, our work friends, all of our friends has been very comforting to all of us; we really appreciate that.”
As a community rally’s behind a family, a team of police officers work tirelessly to bring to justice to those responsible for Elbert Davis’ death.
Tuscumbia Police say they are following up on leads in the case, but they still need the public’s help.
