MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) During a medical emergency it can be a daunting task to gather your medical history, but a new smart phone app offered by Huntsville Hospital aims to make it easier.
The Med-Info Keeper app allows users to securely maintain medical information for themselves and family members. This week Madison Fire and Rescue crews began promoting the app to the patients they serve.
“Sometimes during an emergency situation people forget critical information about themselves," Stacy Haraway with Madison Fire and Rescue told WHNT News 19 Wednesday.
Firefighters pass out business cards with a Q code printed on them that allows anyone with a smart phone to be linked directly to the download site online.
"I use the app to keep track of my kids last shots," Huntsville Hospital spokeswoman Pam Sparks said. "You can store insurance information, health conditions, your medications and dosages, blood type, or any specific data related to your health," Sparks added.
Sparks said the password-secure app could be especially helpful for people with elderly parents who may take a variety of medications or have a long history of health problems.
