Mayoral Candidates Face Runoff In The River City
DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – Former Mayor Don Kyle is currently the front-runner in the mayoral race in Decatur. Right now, however, the candidates are in a competitive runoff race.
Kyle received 45% of the vote, while trailing in second was Carl Cole with 28%. Former Decatur City employee, Gail Busbey received 20%, and current Mayor Don Stanford came in last with just 6% of the vote.
Standford said he is happy with the last four years he has had in office and proud of everything he accomplished when in office.
The race was expected to be wide open, and now we will have to wait to see which candidate will lead Decatur. The runoff race is scheduled for October 9th. The candidates say they look forward to the next part of the battle.
