ALBERTVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A half-dozen vehicles were totaled in Albertville when an 18-wheeler veered off the road and into a parking lot.

It happened Thursday around 7 a.m.  Albertville Police say a pick-up pulling a flatbed slowed or stopped in front of the tractor-trailer on Highway 431 North, and the semi-driver tried to avoid a wreck.  It veered off the road, and another trucker said it’s amazing the rig didn’t jack-knife or turn over.

However, the driver was unable to avoid the cars sitting at One Lug Hobby Shop and Lemaster Dent Repair.

“It was 10 times worse than what I was expecting, just cars everywhere, big truck sitting in my parking lot, just glad nobody got hurt,” said Eric Lemaster, the shop owner.

One police officer called it a minor miracle.

The 18-wheeler was carrying a full load of refrigerated chicken, and the trailer sustained no significant damage.
