Mother Arrested After Newborn Tests Positive For Drugs

ARAB, Ala. (WHNT) – A Marshall County woman is in jail, charged with chemical endangerment of a child.

Kimberlee Dawn Pezzeca is being held in the Marshall County Jail on $500,000 bond.

Pezzaca, 34, gave birth on Tuesday at a hospital in Marshall County.  The baby tested positive for numerous drugs.

The mother tested positive for marijuana, opiates and methamphetamine.

The baby was taken to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at a hospital in another county.

Pezzaca lives in the Blount County portion of Arab, so the Blount County Department of Human Resources is involved in the case.
