Man Shoots Self During Confrontation With Police

HARTSELLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A man shot himself after being confronted by police at a gas station Sunday afternoon.

Hartselle police received a call around 1:15 p.m. about an unruly, possibly intoxicated person at the fuel pumps in front of Walmart on Highway 31.

Police made contact with the driver of a pick-up truck upon arrival.

When officers approached the passenger, he pulled a weapon from the glove compartment and shot himself.

He was pronounced dead at Decatur General Hospital.

Hartselle police are investigating.
