BATON ROUGE, LA. – (WHNT)  The LSU Tigers will be going into a new season ranked as college football’s top team.

However, they will also now be without star cornerback Tyrann Mathieu.

Head Coach Les Miles announced during a news conference in Baton Rouge that Mathieu was dismissed from the team.

Miles would not go into why Mathieu was dismissed, saying only that is due to a violation of team policy.

The player known as the “Honey Badger” was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy in 2011.
