GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) —  Guntersville police said a Fyffe man died in a two-vehicle wreck Friday morning on Highway 431.

Traffic homicide investigators identified the victim as 41-year-old Michael Shane Griffin.

The wreck happened around 7:50 a.m. about a mile north of downtown near Yacht Club Road.

Police said Griffin was traveling north on Highway 431 when he swerved left across the grass median and into the oncoming south bound traffic.

A black Chevrolet Silverado heading south crashed into Griffin’s car.

The driver of the truck, Casey Clark, posted on WHNT News 19’s Facebook page Friday afternoon.

“I have been released from Huntsville Hospital with no major injuries, just a sprained ankle and soreness,” he wrote.

“If anyone is planning on going out tonight please remember to wear your seatbelt, it saved my life this morning, and it could also save yours.”

The Traffic Homicide Unit has not determined what caused Griffin to veer into oncoming traffic, and continues their investigation.
