HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)  The clock is ticking down to Election Day in Madison County and the race for mayor in Madison and Huntsville is heating up.

WHNT News 19 has teamed up with our news partners the Huntsville Times, the Huntsville Committee of 100 and Leadership Huntsville/Madison County for a double header mayoral candidate debate August 14, 2012.

Representatives from both of the community organizations are speaking out about what they want to find out from the candidates.

“We are interested in the relationships that have been built in the past between Huntsville and Madison and how they will continue in the future,” Leadership Huntsville/Madison County alumni director Jenny Askins said.

Dave Hargrove said his organization, Huntsville Committee of 100, is concerned about education and future development and corporation between the two cities.

“Retail and road projects are going to be the big challenges there between these two, there is probably going to be conflict but we want it to be healthy and ultimately you want them to work together,” Hargrove said.
