Huntsville Police, Community Groups Hold ‘National Night Out’
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Hundreds of people packed the Jaycees building for the 29th Annual National Night Out Program Tuesday evening.
The Huntsville Police Department, Huntsville Community Watch Association and Target hosted the event that included free food, entertainment and lots of law enforcement vehicles on display.
National Night Out, a year-long community building campaign, is designed to:
- Heighten crime prevention awareness
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized, aware and are being vigilant against crime
