HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) –  A second open house will be held at the Huntsville Madison County Veterans Memorial tonight.

The purpose of the open house is to help the public learn about different aspects of the memorial and to promote different fundraising opportunities.

Tonight’s memorial (Thursday, August 23) is from 5 to 7 p.m.  There is one more on Thursday, August 30.

You’re invited to attend and learn about different parts of the memorial and what they signify.  Actors in period military uniforms will give presentations, as well as local veterans groups.  You can also listen to patriotic music.

One way you can support the Veterans Memorial is by purchasing a brick paver, in honor or memory of a loved one who served in the military.  Each brick is $100.

A time capsule will be buried at the memorial on Veterans Day, which is November 11, 2012.  The capsule will hold items from the community, and will be buried for 50 years, to be opened in the year 2062.  If you have memorabilia you would like to contribute to the time capsule, please visit this link to learn more.
