Car Catches Fire in Decatur; Man Trapped Inside
DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – Decatur Police and Fire worked a wreck late Thursday night that injured a man and his passenger when the car caught fire.
The wreck happened just after 10:00 pm at the intersection of 3rd Street and 10th Avenue. According to authorities on scene, the car was on fire when they arrived and the driver was trapped.
Emergency crews rescued the driver. He was flown to Huntsville Hospital with severe burns. A passenger was taken by ambulance to Decatur General Hospital for treatment.
Decatur Police say the car ran off the road and hit a tree before catching fire. The cause of the wreck is under investigation.
