Update: Person Who Died In Wreck Near Elkmont Identified

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – There are new details about a wreck that happened early Wednesday morning near Elkmont.

The coroner has confirmed the person who died in 17-year-old Kayla Rachelle Allen Maynard, of Elkmont.  Her family will hold a candlelight vigil on Thursday night.

The crash happened in the early morning hours July 25 on Easter Ferry Road, about three miles south of Elkmont.  Investigators say Maynard ran off the road and down a ravine, then hit a tree.  The impact knocked the engine loose from the car, causing it to catch on fire.  She died at the scene.
