Two Sex Offenders Arrested In Lawrence County

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Two men were arrested in Lawrence County recently, both for failing to register as sex offenders.

Sheriff Gene Mitchell said Matthew Alderson moved to Alabama from Plainview, Texas but failed to notify Texas authorities that he was relocating.

Investigators also arrested Travis Mesko, who had moved from Missouri to Lawrence County in February.  Sheriff Mitchell said Mesko also failed to notify authorities in Missouri that he was moving.  Mesko also allegedly gave a false name to state probation officers, which is a felony.

Both men were booked in the Lawrence County Jail.
