Fatal Accident in Colbert County

A 1-vehicle accident this morning left one person dead and another injured.

Colbert County Sheriff’s Department says it happened around 6:00 this morning on Gnat Pond Road.

Authorities have identified the victim as 24-year-old Anthony Ray Hankins. He was the passenger in the vehicle.

Investigators say the car left the road and hit a tree. According to authorities, Hankins was not wearing a seat-belt.

The accident is still under investigation.
