Head of United Way of Madison County Speeds Up Retirement
MADISON COUNTY, Ala. – The President and Chief Professional Officer of United Way of Madison County has moved up his retirement plans. Steve Kirkpatrick announced Wednesday his retirement will now be effective August 1, 2012.
Kirkpatrick first told United Way of Madison County board members of his retirement plans two years ago, saying he would like to retire in his mid-50′s. Kirkpatrick turns 55 years old Sunday.
Kirkpatrick’s career with United Way spans nearly two decades, including 10 years as a volunteer. He joined the organization’s professional staff as president in 2004.
“It has been an honor to serve United Way of Madison County, an organization that has been meeting the needs of Madison county residents since 1943″, said Kirkpatrick. “I am simply one of a long list of professionals that have worked to help those least able to help themselves.”
Wendy Kirk, United Way’s Chief Operating Officer, will assume day-to-day operations of the organization.
