TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WHNT) – The suspect in this morning’s shooting in Tuscaloosa is in custody and has been charged.

Tuscaloosa Police have confirmed that Nathan Van Wilkins has been charged with 18 counts of Attempted Murder, 1 Shooting into Occupied Dwelling, and 1 Shooting into Occupied Building. His bond is now set at $2,000,000.

The additional charges are in relation to a shooting in Northport that occurred around 11:30 last night just before the shootings at The Copper Top bar in Tuscaloosa happened.

Police Chief Steven Anderson said the suspect went to a business in Jasper and said he was involved in the shooting.  The business called police, who came and took the man into custody.

“We’re still working to connect the dots on the investigation,” said Anderson.

Anderson also said he did not know the motive for the shooting.
