A severe thunderstorm that pushed through Marshall County Sunday night destroyed the Claysville Snack Bar.   The small, cinderblock building is located just off of Highway 431 at the Guntersville city limits.

The walk-up restaurant has been in the area for about 40 years. It wasn’t open, so no one was hurt.

David Nadler, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Huntsville, says a microburst likely caused the damage.

“So far what I’ve seen it doesn’t indicate it was a tornado,” said Nadler.  “Based on the damage to the snack bar and how it was, the damage was thrown out, it suggests it was a microburst, straight line wind damage.”

There were also numerous reports of trees down and power outages in the area.
