Decatur Police Investigate Infant’s Death

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – Decatur Police are investigating the death of an infant. 

On Friday morning, Decatur Fire & Rescue was called to a home on Leighsdale Avenue SW.  A man called 911 after he found his grandson unconscious and not breathing.  The grandfather began performing CPR.

The child was transported to Parkway Medical Center, where he died.  Police say the child’s name was Alexander Barrett.

Police say foul play is not suspected.  Officers were called to the hospital, along with the coroner, which is standard procedure when an infant dies.
