House Fire Claims A Life In Decatur

DECATUR, AL – Decatur Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire on 5th Avenue around 9:30 Saturday night.

Upon arrival, the firefighters were told that Crita Jamnie Geter was inside the residence, which had visible flames coming from inside the house.

Firefighters made a rescue attempt for Geter, but it was unsuccessful.

The Decatur Fire Department, the Alabama State Fire Marshall’s office and the Decatur Police Department are currently conducting a joint investigation.
