Driver Hospitalized After Two-Vehicle Wreck
A wreck early Friday morning sent one person to the hospital and shut down one side of a major highway.
Just after 1:00 AM a patrolling Madison police officer came across the accident in the westbound lanes of Highway 72. The officer found one vehicle overturned and another 50 yards away. Witnesses on the scene say the driver of the overturned car was traveling the wrong way in the westbound lanes of Highway 72 in front of Madison Hospital when it had a near-head-on collision with another vehicle.
Paramedics took the driver of the overturned vehicle to Madison Hospital. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
The accident shut down the westbound lanes of Highway 72 for about two hours.
Alabama State Troopers are investigating the wreck.
