Huntsville to Host Health Expo Saturday at Big Spring Park
This Saturday, the City of Huntsville will host an event to get people excited about fitness. It’s not an easy thing to do – but they’re hoping to do it in a fun, fresh way.
Recently, Mayor Tommy Battle and Huntsville Hospital CEO David Spillers announced a Healthy Huntsville Initiative: Summer Slim-Down. The goal is to stop the rise of obesity in Alabama and help people improve their lifestyles.
Saturday’s Healthy Huntsville Fitness and Nutrition Expo is from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. It’s free to the public. Here are some of the things you can try:
- Yoga & Tai Chi
- Zumba & Dance
- Tumbling & Boot Camp
- Farmer’s Market
- Moon Bounce & Face Painting
Make the family part of the Summer Slim Down Program to lose weight through proper nutrition and exercise. Teams of four, ages 12 and older, may register for an initial weigh-in for the week of June 1 to a final weigh-out July 29 for prizes.
