UPDATE: Decatur Police Investigate Fatal Overnight Shooting

Decatur Police are investigating a fatal shooting in the 1600 block of Chestnut Street.

WHNT News 19 has been able to confirm that the victim of the shooting was 33-year-old Houston Glenn Blackwood.

Police responded to shots fired around 1:00 AM. They say they found Blackwood at an apartment complex and it appeared he had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Emergency workers pronounced him dead at the scene. The case has been ruled a homicide and the investigation continues.
