On Friday night, the Huntsville Stars lost their second consecutive
game and their series with the Tennessee Smokies with a 2-1 defeat at
Smokies Park. After just two hits as a team on Thursday night, the
Stars could only manage six hits and one run for their second straight
game. Shortstop Tommy Manzella drove in the only Huntsville run with a
RBI double in the sixth inning. Stars reliever Santo Manzanillo was
tabbed with the loss after giving up two runs in the bottom of the
sixth inning. Aside from Manzanillo, the loss wasted a strong effort
from starting pitcher Hiram Burgos, who pitched five scoreless innings
while giving up six hits and striking out three.

The Stars return home on Saturday to open up a six-game series with
the Mississippi Braves at Joe Davis Stadium. First pitch is at 6:43
CST.
