Huntsville Police Identify Man Shot By Gas Station Clerk

Huntsville Police say a gas station clerk shot and killed a man who allegedly tried to rob him.  It happened around 9 p.m. Thursday at the Atlantis Corner gas station at 1176 Old Monrovia Road, just off Research Park Boulevard.

Police say the man who died was Rodney Cordell Pride, 32.  He lived in Huntsville.

According to the clerk, the accused robber held up the store two weeks ago.  Huntsville Police are investigating to see if the man is connected to other robberies.

Dr. Harry Hobbs, Huntsville Police spokesman, said the store clerk has not been charged at this point.  Police are still interviewing witnesses and continue their investigation.

Hobbs said Pride has been arrested for several past robberies.
