Hundreds of people gathered at Hazel Green High School in Hazel Green and John Hunt Park in Huntsville Friday night for the American Cancer society's Relay for Life.
The overnight event celebrates cancer survivors, and remembers those who have been lost. Funds raised through Relay For Life support the American Cancer society mission to fight back and find a cure for cancer.
Event organizers said they expect to raise thousands of dollars at these two relays alone. Across the country millions of dollars are collected from this fundraiser.
Huntsville mother Terri Ellett is a nine-year cancer survivor, Friday night her family joined her for the Relay. Their team set up a booth selling deserts helping to raise money to find a cure.
"This means the world to me, I am able to see my daughters grow into wonderful young women," Ellett told WHNT News 19.
