UNA’S Almon Is Academic All-District Selection

University of North Alabama third baseman Andrew Almon has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District V team for his work on and off the baseball field.

A junior from Florence, Almon has a 3.73 cumulative grade point average in Biology – Pre-Professional Dentistry in addition to a .295 batting average as the Lions’ starting third baseman.

To qualify to be nominated for Academic All-District honors a student-athlete has to have a minimum 3.3 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or prominent substitute that has made significant contributions to his team’s success.

Almon is one of just 10 players selected for the Academic All-District V team.

Almon has helped lead the Lions to a 35-17 record and top 25 national ranking all season. He has scored 32 runs and driven in 30 and has eight doubles and two home runs. He has a .364 on base percentage and is second on the team with nine total sacrifices.
