Limestone County Volunteer Firefighters were out early this Sunday morning fighting a huge warehouse fire in Elkmont.

The fire started in an old cotton warehouse at the corner of Sandlin and Upper Fort Hampton Road in downtown Elkmont and is being called suspicious by Elkmont Fire Chief Michael Carter.

He has called for a state fire investigator because there is no power to the building.

The fire was being fed by more than 50 years of accumulated cotton seed oil in the timber and hot spots keep erupting.

It will be some time before investigators can get into the remains.
