MARSHALL COUNTY, AL — A year after a tornado devastated a Marshall County neighborhood the community came together to honor the five members of the Hallmark family who did not survive the storm.
Thursday evening dozens of neighbors gathered for a word of prayer and fellowship and put the final touches on a living memorial in honor of the family. They planted five trees and passed out other trees to other storm survivors to plant in their own yards.
Debbie and Roger Head were very close with the Hallmarks before the storm and they do not want anyone to forget their memory in the future.
“There is a void with them being gone,” Debbie Head told WHNT News 19 Thursday.
The pair donated their front yard for the memorial and have committed to making sure it is a place the entire community can use for years to come.
“We don’t ever want anyone to forget the Hallmarks,” Head added.
