The wreck blocked traffic in both directions.  Troopers moved southbound traffic into one of the northbound lanes until the scene was cleared.

Troopers are still investigating the cause of the crash.  The wreck involved a car and a farm tractor.  A preliminary report indicates the tractor was traveling in the left southbound lane and the car was behind the tractor.

Crash investigators are studying 15 feet of skid marks and other clues to try to figure out how the crash happened.  They're questioning the driver of the tractor.

Orange triangular sign that indicates a slow-moving vehicle

Alabama law allows slow-moving vehicles to be on regular roads, as long as they have an orange triangular sign on the back to warn approaching drivers to slow down.

Troopers have not said if the tractor involved in Monday's accident had this sign posted.

Antonio Compean III worked at Star Market in Hazel Green, as well as Taters and Dawgs, a restaurant.  Friends say he always greeted people with a smile.
