Pictures: Toomer’s Trees Still Hanging On
The oak trees at Toomer’s Corner in Auburn continue to hang on, despite warnings from horticulture and forestry experts that the trees are not expected to survive. The trees were poisoned with a herbicide in February 2011.
Auburn plans to replace the troubled oaks, should they die, with one or more large trees and also plans to use a temporary structure to celebrate victories until the new trees have established roots.
