Update: Easter Fire Kills Toddler, Injures Father

Fayetteville, TN -- Easter morning interrupted by tragedy, fire takes the life of a two-year-old girl and leaves her father struggling to survive.

The fire broke out early Easter morning in Lincoln County near Fayetteville on Kidd Road. Fire investigators told WHNT News 19 the fire was caused by a wood burning stove in the home.

Family members attempted to rescue the people sleeping inside. The victim's grandfather and other family members broke through a wall to reach the toddler who had been sleeping in the bedroom when the fire began. They were able to pull her from the flames and began CPR. Her father, Matthew Clutts suffered severe burns and smoke inhalation. He is in a Nashville, TN hospital recovering.

Fire officials said no charges will be filed in this case, calling it a "tragic accident."
