Huntsville Police plan to charge a man with Driving Under the Influence, after a crash on an Interstate 565 off-ramp.

Around 12:45 a.m. Friday, Huntsville Police responded to the Exit 14B Research Park Boulevard off-ramp.  The driver of a Toyota Corolla was heading down the ramp when he lost control of the car and slammed into a guardrail.

The impact was so severe that the guardrail went through the car, breaking the man's leg, trapping him in the car.  Rescue crews worked for more than 20 minutes to get the driver out.  He was then rushed to Huntsville Hospital for surgery.

The off-ramp was closed for over two hours while state crews cut the guardrail out of the car.
