A New Market teenager died Tuesday.  Matthew Blake Cornelius was 14 years old.

Cornelius was born with medical problems, and doctors predicted he would only live for a few months.  He was a fighter though, and survived with a shunt in his brain.  He also had a bright personality and enjoyed the support of many friends.

‘Blake,’ as he was known, is originally from Section.  However, his family moved to Madison County in recent years so they could be closer to Blake’s doctors.

Visitation will be Friday, April 6 from 5-8 p.m. at Section Church of God.  Another visitation will be on Saturday, April 7 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the church with the funeral at 2 p.m.

Section Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Friends say the Cornelius family was not able to get life insurance for Blake after he was born, because of his diagnosis.  They have established a fund at First National Bank to help pay for Blake’s funeral expenses.
