Fifteen years ago, Whitesburg Baptist Church in Huntsville opened the doors of Whitesburg Christian Academy.

Now, the school has two graduating classes under its belt and hundreds of students enrolled.  They are also looking forward to the next chapter..

On Friday, the church dedicated the ground for the new Whitesburg Christian Academy.  It will be built on the campus between Martin Road and Byrd Spring Road.  The school hopes to break ground by late summer, and plans to be in the new building by the fall of 2013.

"It's good to have an academy like this where children can come and they can learn in an environment on what God teaches," said Jimmy Jackson, the church's pastor.

The new school will cost $4 million to build.  The church has already raised $2.2 million.
