Havoc Knock Out Top Seeded Augusta

AUGUSTA, GA – The Huntsville Havoc got six goals from six different players on their way to a 6-2 win over the top seeded Augusta RiverHawks. The Havoc will now advance to the second round of the SPHL playoffs and will take on the second seeded Columbus Cottonmouths.

The Havoc jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period on goals by Justin Fox, Stuart Stefan and Ray Ortiz.

Dennis Sicard added a second period goal and the Havoc took a 4-0 lead into the second intermission.

Drew Baker scored early in the third period to cut the lead to 4-1 but Colin Reddin answered and pushed the lead back to four goals at 4-1. Jim Gehring cut the lead back to 5-2 with 8:57 left  but Mike MacDonald answered with a powerplay goal a little over a minute later.

Mark Sibbald made 25 saves in the win. Peter Skoggard got the start in net for Augusta and allowed three goals and made four saves in 6:42 of action. Jon Olthius replaced him and allowed three goals and made 27 saves.

The Havoc will host game one on Wednesday night at 7:30. Games two and three will be in Columbus on Friday and Saturday nights.
