Limestone County Deputies charged a man with murdering his grandmother. It happened around 1:00pm Tuesday afternoon at a home on Lydia Corey Road. Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely says 33-year-old James Paul Pigg used a gun and hammer in the attack and against 69-year-old Barbara Delaney.

Decatur Police took James Paul Pigg into custody on 6th Avenue and Church a short time after the shooting. WHNT News 19 was the only news crew on the scene when this happened.

The Sheriff says Pigg lived with Delaney at her home, and that she had recently served him eviction papers.  No word yet on if that is the motive.

Sheriff Blakely says his investigators are working to obtain a search warrant for Pigg and his clothing because they believe there is blood evidence on him and his clothes.
