Oakwood University freshman Justin Hanna was swimming at a secluded rock quarry on the university's property when he drowned Friday afternoon.

Hanna was with about 5 other people when it happened. The details leading up to the incident are still unknown, but HEMSI officials say when the eighteen year old was pulled from the water he was unresponsive.

Other swimmers tried to resuscitate Hanna. Emergency responders started CPR when they arrived and took him to Huntsville Hospital, where he later died.

Multiple 'No Trespassing' signs around the property have done little to keep swimmers away. Last August another man was injured after falling off the rocks.

Oakwood University released a statement mourning Hanna's death. The property is owned by Oakwood University, but on lease to an outside company according to a university spokesman.
