Bulldogs To Meet Golden Tigers At Legion Field
The Alabama A&M Bulldogs kick off their 2012 football season when they meet the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers at Legion Field in Birmingham on Saturday, September 1st at 6 p.m.
Originally the Maroon & White was set to meet the Golden Tigers in Mobile, Ala. but due to the home and home series contract, TU has the right to change locations for the in-state rivalry.
Alabama A&M is very familiar with change of venues as last season the scheduled contest with Hampton University was set for Hampton, Virginia until the Pirates were invited to play in the annual Chicago Classic. The game was then moved, in early June, to the Windy City well after the 2011 Bulldog schedule had been released.
Last season A&M defeated Tuskegee University 21-6 in the second annual Louis Crews Classic in front of a crowd 18,629 –the second largest draw on their home turf–Louis Crews stadium.
The Maroon and White Bulldogs, under head Coach Anthony Jones, own a 9-6 record at Legion field. Their last victory at the 70,000-seat stadium was a 20-19 win against the Alabama State in the 2011 Magic City Classic.
